Mexican Cactus Green Smoothie

We loved our time in Mexico! One of our favorite things was trying lots of native fruits for the first time - guanabana, lychee, tuna, nopales - YUM!

While we were there, a new friend made us his favorite Green Smoothie and it was DELICIOUS! What made it so special was that he used ingredients we'd never tried in a smoothie before - like garlic and ginger - and the nopales or cactus fruit. He gave us permission to share this recipe with you to try at home and get a little, healthy, green taste of Mexico!

Mexican Nopales Green Smoothie

A delicious, healthy taste of Mexico to kickstart your day!

Makes: 1 serving

Mexican Green Smoothie

Prep time:

Cook time:

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 leaf of nopal (cactus)
  • 1 stick of celery
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1/4 clove garlic
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • Handful of frozen pineapple
  • Juice of 3 oranges

Instructions:
  1. Put all ingredients in high speed blender
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Top with an optional spritz of lime
